Book Review: Yours Is the Day, Lord, Yours Is the Night by Jeanie and David GusheePosted: October 22, 2012
Yours Is the Day, Lord, Yours Is the Night by Jeanie and David Gushee is just plain refreshing. Simple guided prayers with the wording from the times and places of people I had not even heard from in the past to modern-day prayers from the authors themselves. Jeanie and David not only accumulated a wealth of prayers from around the globe but added their own heart-felt prayers as well. Some of the authors to the prayers: John of the Cross (1500s), Macarius of Egypt, (c 300-390), Rita Snowden (1900s), Dwight L. Moody (1800s), Pope Paul VI (late 1800-1900s), to name a few. Throughout the book you will also find a few black and white illustrations. Modestly written on daily pages, every day has its morning and evening prayers that used alone or as a spring-board to your other prayers, revive the mind and soul. The authors are indexed in the back for easy reference and the bibliography and suggested reading list are vast. Though the pages are plain and simple, I enjoyed this prayer-book and think you will too.
